During the October half-term sixth form physics students travelled to Geneva, Switzerland to visit the CERN Facility. We stayed at a youth hostel in Geneva, picturesquely situated around Lake Geneva and the Alps. We had a guided tour around the CERN computing facility and the exciting Antimatter Factory and the Large Hadron Collider. We then visited the European UN Headquarters, where we witnessed a conference in action. On the last day, we took a boat tour across Lake Geneva and went into town to do some shopping for souvenirs! It was an amazing opportunity and I would highly recommend it to anybody studying physics as it gives a good insight into the world of quantum and particle physics.
