First Ever Open Mic Acoustic night a roaring success
Recently the school has produced a show for the first time called ‘open mic night’, a series of music performances including singing instruments, duos and piano solos.
Everybody in the audience was looking forward to what was to come, although the performers were petrified. Priya in Year 9 who was playing the piano and trumpet explained that she felt ‘Nervous and a bit lost’ as she hadn’t expected such a large audience, however, once on stage she played like and angel to rapturous applause!
The show started off with Joe and Daniel in Year 10, with Joe’s amazing beat boxing skills really complementing Daniel’s great singing. Both appeared extremely confident, even when singing very emotional songs which pulled at the heartstrings of the audience.
Karishma in Year 11’s melodic voice ‘nearly brought tears to my eyes’ remarked a member of the audience.
The night was closed by the Year 8 Rock band, who sang a cover of The Cranberries classic ‘Zombie’ and were joined onstage by Miss Thorne for a rousing finale.
Organiser Mr Hunter explained that he hopes to make the night a termly event and really promote the opportunity of performing in a live environment all around the school.
