As an external student who changed schools at the last minute, I always worried that I would feel out of place in a new sixth form. However, my experience at The Heathland School has been quite the opposite. I have always felt academically encouraged by my teachers and emotionally supported by the SLT members.
The teachers are constantly looking for new ways to help students thrive throughout their education. For example, they create accessible revision resources that encourage spaced repetition and accurate recall, helping students feel more prepared for test day. I also massively appreciate how much emphasis teachers place on individual progress, encouraging students to attend subject clubs where they can ask questions, strengthen their understanding of difficult topics and watch teachers work through exam questions.
Additionally, teachers continually highlighting the importance of independent study has given many students in my cohort the ability to achieve excellent grades. Using my free and independent study periods to revise for my mocks, I am proud to say that they went well. Studying in quiet spaces around the school, such as classrooms and the library, has helped me improve my concentration and discipline, while creating revision timetables has allowed me to take greater responsibility to structure my own time.
The Heathland School has not only supported me academically, but has also introduced me to opportunities such as Future Leaders UK and Migrant Leaders. These experiences have helped me develop important skills in leadership, communication, and empathy, which have already supported me in my role as a Wellbeing Ambassador and will continue to benefit me throughout my future career as a doctor.
A huge highlight for me was participating in the SPEAR Oratory Prize. Being able to share my opinions on education inequality across the globe as a young student myself was incredibly rewarding, as it served as not only a reminder as to how privileged we are to able to study at school, but it was yet another prospect in which I could improve my public speaking skills, specifically my body language, eye contact and voice projection.
What I value most about Heathland is that it has given me opportunities to grow both academically and personally. From attending subject-specific lectures and volunteering in care homes to meeting lifelong friends, I have been able to make so many memories here that I will carry with me beyond sixth form!'

'Coming from Isleworth and Syon, I wanted a sixth form with proven academic success and high expectations. Heathland stood out immediately for its strong results and ambitious culture, and it quickly became clear that it was the right environment for me to thrive. Choosing Heathland has been one of the best academic decisions I have made.
Heathland’s UCAS support is exceptional and begins well before Year 13. Whether students are aiming for competitive degree courses, Oxbridge, or apprenticeships, tailored guidance and mentoring are in place from the outset. The Oxbridge mentoring in particular is rigorous and supportive, helping students build strong applications with confidence. This structured guidance ensured I was well-prepared and supported throughout the entire process.
Alongside this, Heathland has actively supported my leadership and external commitments. The school encouraged me in my roles as Chair of the London Youth Assembly and national ambassador for KidsOut, while also developing my leadership skills as Head Boy. I was trusted to lead meaningful initiatives, including organising the school’s first book fair in over two decades and a Year 13 Culture Day. These opportunities pushed me to lead with confidence and make a lasting contribution to the school community.'

I am thrilled to be part of the Heathland Community. Moving from India to Feltham in Year 11 was a significant transition, and while my initial grades reflected the challenges I faced, I was fortunate to meet the entry requirements for Heathland. I had heard wonderful things about the school from teachers and friends, especially its outstanding reputation in Hounslow and impressive Ofsted ratings.
Heathland boasts an exceptional team dedicated to supporting us academically, personally, and mentally. Our teachers help us reach our full potential through a blend of independent study and homework. They engage us in meaningful discussions, ensuring we grasp every topic and learn from our mock exam performance. From the moment I arrived in Year 12, I felt embraced by the community, as if I had belonged here all my life.
The school offers a range of extracurricular activities that significantly enhance our university applications. Opportunities like prefecting, subject captains, and Enrichment Days with sports and volunteering allow us to grow in various ways. Additionally, charity weeks provide chances to raise funds through creative initiatives, fostering a spirit of giving. These experiences have been instrumental in building my CV as I pursue my aspiration of becoming a doctor. I will always remember Heathland as a pivotal step in my journey as a student and future university applicant.
