Preparing for Success in GCSE History

Success in GCSE History requires students to develop secure knowledge of key events, individuals and developments, while also building the ability to analyse historical sources, interpret historical interpretations and construct well-supported written arguments. Students should make regular use of the resources provided, engage in frequent retrieval and revision activities, and develop examination confidence through consistent practice of examination-style questions.

Students need to select the papers/options corresponding to the History topics they have studied.  

Revision Resources

Online revision guides and PLCs for all four History topics have been uploaded to the History MS Teams page.


📚 Recommended Revision Materials

In Spring 2027, students will be provided with four Pearson Edexcel revision guides, one for each topic studied.

💡 How to Revise History

Students should focus on:

  • Learning key dates, events, individuals and historical concepts.
  • Creating timelines, flashcards and knowledge organisers.
  • Regular self-quizzing and retrieval practice.
  • Practising source and interpretation questions.
  • Completing exam-style questions and using mark schemes to assess responses.
  • Identifying areas for improvement using PLCs and targeted revision.

Students also have access to Seneca Learning, which provides a wide range of interactive quizzes and revision activities for GCSE History.
