On October 2nd, KS3 students descended upon the English suite to take part in the Heathland School’s first Poetry Slam as part of National poetry day.
The crowd of bustling students was roaring from the off, and our judging panel, consisting of Miss Wyborn, Mrs Farooq, and Dr Purchase, were exceptionally impressed both by the quality and enthusiasm that the pupils showed; deciding a winner was understandably a difficult decision.
Many congratulations to the ‘humblingly brilliant’ Lucy Rogerson (8Ba), whose slam poem based around the central role of music in her life took first place.
All involved would like to pass on a hearty thank you to Mrs Farooq for organising the event.
