Key Stage 3 Home Learning

 

The Key Stage 3 Home Learning programme is designed to support students in consolidating their learning, developing independent study habits and preparing successfully for Key Stage 4 and GCSE study. Through regular engagement with Home Learning, students will strengthen their subject knowledge while developing valuable lifelong skills such as organisation, resilience, time management and self-discipline.

Students will be provided with a Home Learning booklet for each subject, which will be glued into the back of their exercise books. Students are expected to complete the tasks set by their teachers by the deadline date.

Students will be provided with either an Aspiration or Dedication booklet, enabling them to access learning activities that provide the right level of challenge and support for their individual needs. As the Home Learning booklet is an important learning resource, students are expected to take responsibility for its care, ensure it remains in good condition and bring it to lessons when required.

Regular completion of Home Learning helps students to take greater ownership of their learning, build confidence and develop the study habits required for future academic success. These skills will support students not only as they progress into GCSE courses, but also throughout further education, employment and adult life.

Parents and carers play a vital role in supporting successful home learning. We encourage parents and carers to:

· Access and review the Home Learning booklets for each subject.

· Check that Home Learning tasks are being completed regularly and to a high standard.

· Discuss learning with their child and encourage them to take pride in their work.

· Support the development of effective study routines and independent learning habits.

By working together, we can help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to thrive at Key Stage 3, make a successful transition to GCSE study and achieve their full potential.
