Further Mathematics is a challenging and enjoyable subject which is widely accepted as an excellent qualification to have by universities if you are applying for Science, Engineering or Mathematics based courses. Admissions tutors acknowledge that the rigour needed to be successful in Further Mathematics shows that students have high level logical thinking skills and an ability to apply them to a range of problems. It is often required in offers for these subjects at top institutions.

By covering the Further Mathematics modules, students find that they are well prepared for the Mathematics content of their degree courses. They also get better grades in their Mathematics A Level as they have more practice of the techniques used.

Course Content/Outline:

Mandatory

All students must study

  • Core Further Pure Mathematics 1
  • Core Further Pure Mathematics 2

and two Further applied modules from

  • Further Mechanics 1
  • Further Statistics 1
Decision Mathematics 1

All modules are examined by written papers which last for 1 hr 30 minutes each.
